Alice sequel coming in 2011, first screens inside

It has been talked about for quite some time, but EA has finally shown off some assets from the sequel to the cult classic American McGee’s Alice, called Alice: Madness Returns. At a press event earlier today, EA described the game as an action adventure, with the very broad release window of 2011.

Kinect price is $150; new 360 hardware coming August 3

Microsoft has finally made it official: the Kinect hardware will retail for $150 when it’s released on November 4, and will come with a copy of Kinect Adventures included. That’s not the only news today, however, as Redmond revealed a new version of the Xbox 360 that will hit stores on August 3 for $200.

Alien Swarm gets Source upgrade, free re-release

Alien Swarm started life as an Unreal Tournament modification. Later, the team was hired at Valve to work on the Left 4 Dead series before moving onto Portal 2. Both Valve and the original team have put together a very nice present for fans: the game has been updated to take advantage of the Source engine, and will be made available today free of charge, including the SDK.

Post mortem: 1 vs. 100 was ambitious, had major obstacles

1 vs. 100 was a live game show available to Gold Subscribers on Xbox Live. It featured actual prizes, a live host, celebrity guests… and it might have been a bit ahead of its time. Late last week, Microsoft quietly pulled the plug on the show, notifying its fans via a short message and an updated official page. The announcement was met with howls of disappointment—some of which were coming from this writer—on Twitter, but it’s clear that Microsoft wasn’t seeing the return on its investment that was expected.
