No more scans from leaked ads from various retailers, no more analysts endlessly speculating, no more “will it or won’t it” conversation in the forum: Nintendo has finally made the Nintendo Wii price drop official. Starting on September 27, the Wii hardware will be available for $199.99. The package will continue to include a Wiimote, a nunchuk, and Wii Sports.

Need for Speed: Shift has a very rough road ahead of it. The Need for Speed name carries a good amount of baggage—for better or worse—and Dirt 2 was recently released to rave reviews, with the much-hyped Forza 3 coming right around the corner. This is a crowded time for racing games, and Shift has to find a home and its own place… something it may not have accomplished.

EA’s NHL series has featured fighting in its games since the franchise launched in the early 1990s. It makes sense, seeing as how integrated brawls have become with ice hockey. NHL 10, due in stores today, is set to feature fights so realistic that one former NHL captain believes they will teach children that fisticuffs are a part of the sport and are sometimes necessary to win a game.
