Sony has some great news for gamers today, as the Blu-ray compilation disc of God of War and God of War 2 is now a reality, and is coming this Holiday season.
In our last story about the work Naughty Dog put into Uncharted 2 to make sure the game was a showcase for the PlayStation 3 hardware, we explored some of the technical aspects of the game and the developer’s role as a first-party source of information for other developers and publishers… to somewhat controversial results.

This week the PlayStation Store gets one new game, a handful of classics and demos, as well as the usual heaping of downloadable content. Leading the way is Invincible Tiger: The Legend of Han Tao, which looks to be a 3D action game that will run gamers $14.99.
At the moment, both the Xbox 360 and the PS3 are available for $300 with 120GB hard drives, so if you’re in the mood for a new system it’s just a quick car ride away. Of course, both systems only come with composite cables, meaning you’ll have to buy something extra if you’re hoping to play your games in high definition.
Sony has a checkered past when it comes to advertisements for its systems, but this new ad that hypes the PlayStation 3’s new price point and features is… well, it’s pretty much genius. It pokes fun at the company’s inability to keep a secret, it gently mocks the Internet, and shows confidence for its own product.
It’s hard to find many surprises in gaming hardware announcements these days, and Microsoft has just confirmed something we’ve known for a very long time: starting this Friday, August 28, the Xbox 360 Elite with the 120GB hard drive will be sold for $299.99, and the Pro hardware with the 60GB hard drive will go for $249.99, while supplies last. Aaron Greenberg, Microsoft’s Director of Product Management for Xbox 360 and Xbox LIVE, gave us a call to share the news. “We’re going to shock you if you’ve been either traveling for a long time, or you don’t read your own site,” he said, laughing, before confirming the price drop.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is going to have quite the launch.
