China has officially outlawed the practice of exchanging virtual currency for real goods, and minors are no longer able to buy the virtual cash. These rules will help the government control trade in China, but they could also impact the huge gold-farming industry that exists in the country.

I purchased Mass Effect Galaxy the second I heard it was live, and got to playing that afternoon. After a few hours, the verdict is mixed, but overall it feels like a grand experiment. EA and Bioware used the game as a way to introduce you to a character from the upcoming Mass Effect 2, and the game used the branching conversation paths from the first game rather well, even if too many of your choices didn’t seem to have much effect on the actual game.

In a surprise announcement, MMO developer Mythic Entertainment has revealed that it is being merged with RPG powerhouse BioWare by parent company Electronic Arts. According to the announcement, the two developers will join together to form a new RPG/MMO studio group, which will be headed up by BioWare co-founder Ray Muzyka.
