Tuesday at GDC Microsoft announced a number of upcoming additions to Games for Windows, including stronger protection against piracy, as well as some nifty features to make playing your PC games simpler if you have multiple systems. There will also be storefront support added so publishers can add sales directly into their game. Drew Johnston, the product unit manager for the Windows Gaming Platform, and Dave Luehmann, GM for Microsoft Game Studios, described to Ars what these updates will entail.

A minor controversy erupted in Clevelend, Ohio recently, where a teachers union and school board are at odds with how one area principal handled the removal of the November issue of Nintendo Power from a middle school library. By the time you read this, most of the gaming press will be headed towards San Francisco for the Game Developers Conference, knowing full well that we are at best mild interlopers at the event. GDC is a time where industry professionals can share ideas and speak about their games, while drinking massive amounts of alcohol afterwards. Still, many game companies have booths or meeting rooms set up in the Moscone Center or off-site to show off their upcoming releases to the press, and we have our schedules booked solid with meetings. Virtual economies of MMO games have been becoming increasingly intertwined with real-world money over the past few years.
